Our Story

How it all started...

We were commissioned as a new church start July 2008 as a daughter church of Covenant United Methodist Church.

In August 2016, we were released with blessing from the Florida annual conference of the UMC to become Cross Creek Community Church.  We have worshiped and served at Creekside Middle School in Port Orange since 2009 and now worship in our new space in Venetian Bay.

To meet the community need of childcare, we opened our Day School in 2011.  As a missional church, we love serving the communities of Port Orange and New Smyrna Beach.  The love of Christ is shared globally as well with ongoing work in Kenya, Africa.

In 2021 we engaged with Dove International Fellowship seeking spiritual oversight from a larger body of believers with shared vision, values, mission, and commitment.

Expanding the vision...

We don’t want to be half-hearted, or “lukewarm” followers of Christ. We want to be "fully devoted" followers of Christ.  What does this look like?  It looks like people who are passionate, humble, kind and thoughtful.  It looks like people who put God and others before themselves, share life in all it's messiness and brokenness with each other and others who are searching for a relationship with the Loving Savior to whom we turn to for guidance, comfort, peace and purpose. His Word, the Bible, guides us daily.   We want to become people who are willing to sacrifice their own comfort, agenda or pleasures to meet the needs of others.  We want to become more Christ-like and live out the values of His kingdom by the power of His Holy Spirit made evident in our lives, our church, and our community.

Where we are now...

We have enjoyed worshiping and serving at Creekside Middle School for ten
years, but have now come to the point where we believe it is time to put out our tent stakes and expand our reach with a more permanent location.

God has grown our Day School from 8 children in an after-school program, to more than 50 children in preschool, VPK, and after school K-5th grade this past year.  We love children at our church and Day School and will continue to provide safe, professional, Christian care for children of all ages.

We have been able to move our church office and day school "around the corner" from Suite 133 to Suite 122 of the Venetian Bay town center which will allow us to expand our childcare capacity.

In April of 2023 we were able to move our worship center out of Creekside Middle School into our own Community Worship Center to Suite 120 of the Venetian Bay town center. Having our office, day school, and worship facility all under one roof for the first time in over a decade has been a great blessing.

This move has opened many doors to fulfill our mission of bringing the community together.  Where we are headed is a place of great promise and possibility as we continue to live as a fountain of living water, growing the Kingdom, touching the world!
